HIGHER GROUND MEADOW
Natural Burial
There is a small area of land within Higher Ground Meadow which is not rich in wild flowers. It lies between two very tall old hedgerows, so there is too much shade for the flowers to establish. Here we do offer grave spaces that will have a tree planted, beside which can be placed one of our memorial name plates. In time these will create a small copse within the whole meadow area and so provide another type of habitat for the wildlife.
As this section fills we shall be planting native bluebells and primroses both a delight to see in the springtime.
The trees will have to be chosen from the following native varieties, and will be planted during the spring following a burial or as conditions permit.
Silver birch, wild cherry, mountain ash, small leaved lime, a limited amount of ash. oak and crab apple or any of the shrubs listed below.
Graves for ashes in the woodland can have a native shrub planted, either hazel, guelder rose, wayfairing tree, holly, hawthorn, spindle, or dogwood.
